The program has been held in 59 locations with total partners 34 companies. It was firstly held on January 15, 2024.

Heru: Various Commodities Should Exist in Cheap Market

Heru also monitored the program implementation at Duren Sawt Urban Village, East Jakarta, and Cempaka Putih Barat Urban Village, Central Jakarta.

Heru said that this synergy shows that providing food at affordable prices and good quality for Jakarta residents is not only carried out by the government, but also involves stakeholders. He hopes that more stakeholders will be involved to ensure the availability of basic food stocks.

"With more parties supporting this activity, it is hoped that the activity can be continued with more varied types of food. This also gives confidence to the community that we guarantee the availability of food stocks in sufficient quantities, easily accessible and at affordable prices," he said, as quoted from Jakarta Provincial Government's Press Release.

Heru appreciated the stakeholders for participating and cooperating with Jakarta Provincial Government in fulfilling food, easing distribution, and maintain staple food price especially ahead of Chinese New Year holiday up to fasting month.

"We express our deepest gratitude for the support and participation of all parties in the implementation of Cheap Basic Food. Hopefully in the future this good relationship can continue to be maintained and the benefits can be felt directly by the community," he added.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Food Tenacity, Maritime and Agriculture Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati, explained the program is held to keep inflation rate stable.

"Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Jakarta's inflation value in January 2024 was 1.83 year on year/yoy. This figure is below the national inflation value of 2.57 (yoy)," she explained.
